DETAILS ABOUT THE COURSE:

As a launch event and model class, we invite you to register for free at the INTERNATIONAL ONLINE SEMINAR " IMPACT EVALUATION FOR DEVELOPMENT " which will take place on Saturday 27th November at 06:30 PM (UK time) . The presentation will be in charge of María Camila Arias Álvarez: MSc in Impact Evaluation for International Development at University of East Anglia

PRESENTATION:

This course presents an introduction to the contexts where impact evaluations are relevant, presenting the student a map with the most relevant impact evaluation techniques, understanding the principles of each and their advantages and limitations. Finally, the course shares some practicalities of working in evaluation.

MAIN OBJECTIVE:

To theoretically introduce students to impact evaluation techniques from a critical perspective.

AUDIENCE:

Professionals who want to learn about impact evaluation principles and are interested in working in impact evaluation.

METHODOLOGY:

The course consists of 10 sessions divided in three parts: context of impact evaluations, techniques, and practicalities. Each session will take 1 hour and there are a maximum of 2 sessions per week. A reading list will be suggested at the end of each session for the own learning of the student. Each week, a potential evaluation situation is presented and, based on theory, the students must propose a methodology of impact evaluation within the next 24 hours. This proposal includes a summary of a theory of change, indicators of results, treatment variable, hypothesis, methodology, limitations of evaluation and answer whether the evaluation is viable or not (no more than 1 page). These evaluated exercises will give the mark of the course.
